# How To: Connect Your Email to HubSpot

## This article walks you through connecting your work email to HubSpot, a required setup step for all reps. It covers why it matters, the step-by-step connection, how to confirm it's working, and fixes for common issues.

**Overview**

Every rep must connect their work email to HubSpot. It takes about 5 minutes and is a leadership requirement for all sales reps and new hires.

Once connected, you can:

- Send one-to-one emails straight from contact, company and deal records
- Have replies to those emails logged to the CRM automatically
- Enroll contacts in sequences
- Install HubSpot Sales to use HubSpot tools inside Gmail or Outlook

Connect your own work address (for example, your.name@slide.tech). Never connect a shared or team mailbox here.

**Connect your email**

Slide uses Gmail (Google Workspace). Path: **Settings (gear icon) \> General \> Email tab \> Connect email account**.

1. In HubSpot, click the **settings icon** (gear) in the top navigation bar.
2. In the left sidebar, click **General** (under Your Preferences).
3. Click the **Email** tab.
4. Click **Connect email account**.
5. In the dialog, tick **Turn on inbox automation**. This is required for all reps.
6. Click **Connect your inbox**.
7. Type your @slide.tech address, then click **Next**.
8. Click **Connect to Gmail**.
9. Read the summary of what HubSpot will access, then click **Continue**.
10. Choose your @slide.tech Google account (not a personal Gmail).
11. Review the permissions and click **Allow**.
12. You'll land back in Settings with a confirmation that your Gmail inbox is connected.

 Check that it worked

- Go back to **Settings \> General \> Email**. Your address is listed as a connected account.
- Open any test contact (your own works), click **Email**, and send yourself a short message.
- Reply to it from your inbox. Within a few minutes the reply shows on the contact's activity timeline.
- Install the HubSpot Sales Chrome extension for Gmail so you can log and track emails sent from your inbox. Ask your manager if the team uses it.

Good to know: attachments log to the record by default if the email is under 50 MB, and tracked emails are visible to other HubSpot users on the team.

**Troubleshooting**

| Problem | What to do |
| --- | --- |
| No **Connect email account** button | You're missing the Personal email access permission or have a View-Only seat. Ask your HubSpot admin. |
| Signed in with the wrong Google account | Disconnect it in Settings \> General \> Email (hover, **Disable**, then **Remove**) and reconnect with your @slide.tech account. |
| Got a "disconnected" notice later | Usually your Google password changed or HubSpot's access was revoked. Reconnect using the same steps. A password change also disconnects your calendar, so recheck that too. |
| Google blocks the connection | Your Google Workspace admin may need to allow the HubSpot app. Send them the error text. |
